Hi dear friends!

I am finally in : ) and couple of ideas, finally, started to grow in
my head. After considering all the circumstances I have decided for
this "growing architecture" - videosculpture:

According to the installation: I see more possibilities;
a) to built a cardboard box and place a small LCD in it
b) use a rear video projection and project video on a wall with
opening from back side – from the front side of the wall, the image as
the one on youtube would be see ; from the back side the whole scene
of the action would be scene – that means whole sculpture and me
struggling with it
c) I let the video as it is to Dusan and let him handle it as a found
footage and do whatever he likes.
d) combination of all three possibilities : )

Now the question, do you have any technical equipment, which I could
use? (lcd, projector,…)

Hello to all,
I decided to react (c) and create something like a portable garden or
gallery. It is going to be a stand for a videoframe (digitalphoto
frame) with real flowers incorporated. Height will be something around
1 meter. I have always wanted to make one...something like a unfilled
wish of a hobby freak ... (My grand parents used to have them in their
living room....)

picture in pieces

hey all planting idea artists,
I'm creating a picture in zurich. I plan to cut this picture in many littel pieces & I would like to send you one of these pieces, on wich you can add someting & send it to kolin...
In Kolin I will reconstruct the picture made out of this little pieces and hopefully most of the pieces would be there then.....

I know its not much time left now....but it would be great if you could mail(if you like to participate in this growing picture) me your home or studio adress, and maybe you are already in kolin, so I would send the piece of the picture there....

I don't know if there are already plans for this "wooden house", but maybe it would be possible to install the picture made out of this little pieces in this house?

Hi guys! I thought of uploading few pics of our garden so that you get some idea how it looks here right now, the pics are taken about 6 weeks ago, so now there is much more flowers and bushes have grown more! When i get my camera back i will take more photos!

Hi folks. I'd really like to encourage people to leave some messages here. It's some three weeks before we leave to Kolin and it would be really nice to have some sort of an idea of what kind of things others are interested in and so on. It doesn't have to be that amazing -I think this blog more as a sketchbook, very raw and "not there yet". And besides, wasn't this virtual garden part of the idea of Planting Ideas?

The House -in progress

The Small window up there is for looking inside of the house. I would really love somebody to build another world in there! Video, installation, another drawing/painting, whatever is possible. I think it would be possible to combine even very different kind of works with this very clear interior/outerior. The front porch would be especially good place to create something.

I will put more pictures of the house on august, when I start to draw on it.

My plan is to paint it white and draw the house on the house. And some landscape while I am at it. Maybe add some colour to it also. I am not sure should I put the chimney too...It could pour out something....or some thing.

The Dimensions are: lenght 265 cm, hight 189 cm and width 138 cm. Its made of 4 mm plywood and 2"x2" s mostly. Its put together with screws, so it is possible to unbuild to a panel and wood for moving around (its not a very light box, though..).

This was another thought of mine: little wooden sticks, a bit like matches, that I've used when I was a kid and now bumped into them in a children's art camp in June. It would be wicked to build something with them -they're fragile but still strick and wooden.

Hi again,

the second idea I have is something that I would like everyone to contribute to. It would be a wall full of Lomo film pictures with the subject matter of love, affection, kisses, cuteness, hugs, happyness, etc.

The reason why I want to do a happy-happy-joy-joy type of an art piece is that it feels like I am always making art about something that is not right. I am critizising the gender hierarchys, the sexual politics, the society, the environmental politics, the escapism, etc. My art makes people laugh occasionally, but the humor is always black or ironic.

So this is my attempt to make something that feeds from positive. And to also create something that is positive and fun to make. And to me this is hard, even now when I think about the name for this piece my mind goes back to it's old habits and comes up with names like: "The photo moment lasts less than a second", "The biggest diversion on earth", "In 100 years all is dead" and all pathetic names possible to come up with. So as you can see, I really need help with this! To stay focused on the main idea and not wonder of to the cosy field of agony.

I would also hope that people already have lomo cameras or they know a friend of a friend with a lomo camera that they could borrow. And if everyone could take a couple of rolls of film, there would be a full wall of love from different countries and people.

Hi everyone.

I have similar approach to the symposium as Aino. To use something that is lying around useless, but can be something inspiring.

I have had these small (10 x 15 cm) wooden boards for years waiting to be used. There's approximately 350 of them and they are 1 cm thick. And I have now decided to bring them with me. I am imagining several things what they could be.

-We could paint them with white gesso and draw things on them with pencil.
-We could build something of them, a tower, a maze, an iglu....
-We could paint them with bright colors and form one big wall, or a painting.
-They could be half buried in a ground, so that you could only see half of them, it would be like semetary for small drawings that change in time.
-All the pictures in the boards could form a one long story that everyone take part in. Kind of like making a 350 panel-comic that is made collectively.

I would really be excited to hear what you would do with them!

Having zero ideas, just fragments of colors, materials and such, so I thought I should approach the whole thing from a practical point of view:

It has to be something that can be operated in two weeks without having to compromise with the end result. And it has to be something that can be removed to another place. And I’d really want it to be site specific, installation of some kind BUT I’d also love to make a real story, with a hint of comic or such. Yeah, quite a wishlist..

I’ve been trying to paint along the spring but somehow been feeling a bit depressed with the oil colors. It’s such a demanding material and I’m more used to acrylics and pencils and paper cut, quick, clear, impatient materials. I’ve been dying to get some new, fresh idea, some new toy or an inspiring obsession.. and few nights ago I got it!

This might sound silly but I was wondering what I could do with all these old stockings my miniature apartment is full of –little holes here and there, faded colors and stains, but all in all, still not something to just throw away. So it hit me like a hammer, that I HAVE to go and buy cotton and start filling the stockings to make little, soft, colorful balls. For what? Well, that I don’t know yet… All I know that I’m definitely bringing them with me to Kolin, and they’re somehow part of the art piece I’m making there.

Any ideas?

Planting Ideas 2010 is an interdisciplinary project organised by the D.I.V.O Institute, c2c Circle of cristics and curators and the Arts council of Pirkanmaa region in Finland. Selected Finnish and Swiss artists meet and work together with the contemporary Czech art scene in the artists run space D.i.v.o Institute in the Central Bohemian town of Kolín.
This location provides a unique working possibilities with its versatile exhibition space with garden and its interesting surroundings. This creates a great base for international cultural exchange and networking and yet special, for the location being somewhere else than in a capital city. The Project offers the invited artists an opportunity to interact with the local scene and will create a platform for meeting other professionals and networking, another goal of the symposium is to raise cultural awareness in the city of Kolín in Central Bohemian region.
